From June 21 to 25, 2021, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University hosted the international scientific conference "Current Problems in Mechanics" ("Advanced Problems in Mechanics — 2021").

On June 24, A. Reztsova, a research assistant of the Laboratory of Ice Engineering Research Fundamentals, presented a report on the topic "MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF ICE FIELD DEFLECTION DYNAMICS".

The presentation is devoted to analyzing the interaction of the ice field with an inclined plane of hydraulic engineering structures in the conditions of the Arctic shelves. To prevent accidents and reduce loads on the surface of industrial structures, it is important to ensure accurate assessment of the maximum stresses from ice when interacting with inclined planes. The report presented the results of the experiments conducted in the ice tank of the Krylov State Research Centre. The report also presented the comparison with the analytical solutions for the equation of a beam bending on an elastic foundation, imitating the ice sheet.

The abridged text of the report has been published in the BOOK OF ABSTRACTS XLIX International Conference “Advanced Problems in Mechanics”.
