On December 16, P.N. Zvyagin, the head of the Laboratory made an online report at the All-Russian conference "Modern technologies in shipbuilding and aviation education, science and production" dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding shipbuilder Rostislav Evgenievich Alekseev. The conference held on December 16-17, 2021 in Nizhny Novgorod brought together many representatives of the Russian shipbuilding science who are actively involved in the development of this field. The report made at the conference was devoted to new experimental results.
The report highlighted that the study of loads on the structure surface, where ice destruction occurs, is a necessary step towards achieving a common understanding of the processes of interaction between ice and a vessel, ice and a structure. The studies of this kind are of particular importance in relation to models of hydraulic structures. If the goal is to assess the load on its frontal part, then, its achievement seems unlikely without using sensors measuring loads directly on the contact pad.
